About Us

American Sage Magazine was founded by two brothers, Taft Babbitt and Todd Babbitt, with the mission to provide people with clear thinking about the most important issues facing America today. They saw that traditional news outlets, sometimes called the old media or main stream media, was doing a disservice to the people in two ways. First, these outlets were not spending time educating people about the issues they were supposed to be covering; instead, they were spending their precious time talking about what people were saying about the issues, not in issues themselves. To make matters worse, the time they were spending was limited to a window of only a few minutes before they had to move onto the next topic. This is not news. This is not informative. American Sage focuses on the underlying issues and not simply what some people 'think' about the issues. For what does it matter to know what people think about various issues if they nor you understand the issue itself. You will notice that we use labels such as Democrat, Republican, Liberal, and Conservative very infrequently in our writing. There are occasions that it brings clarity to a discussion but very often it simply prejudices people into groupthink behaviors that are not helpful.

The name American Sage was chosen because our focus on understanding issues is distinctly American and we strive to do this in a manner exhibiting experience, wisdom, and calm judgment - in other words, as a Sage. In addition to focusing on helping people clearly understanding the issues, once a person understands what is at stake the next question often is, "Now what to do about it?" Since American Sage Magazine is an online publication we are able to leverage technology to help our readers answer this question. With most articles published in American Sage there will be an ACT NOW button which allows our readers to take action. By supplying your zip code and clicking on this button the reader is provided with a letter that can be sent immediately to their representatives in Washington DC regarding that specific issue. American Sage believes that 'The People' should be heard everyday, not just on election night. With this feature you are able to vote everyday, be heard everyday!

We hope you find value from American Sage Magazine and will share us with your friends and family.

Sincerely,

Taft Babbitt

Todd Babbitt
